controversial issue reflection

Cyber bullying:

         I agree with the author about cyber bullying. It is becoming a very serious issue, and needs to be taken care of. Many young people are committing suicide from the stress that comes from being bullied. I think schools should get involved. I also think laws should be made against cyber bullying. I believe it is a crime because people are getting hurt. There should be serious consequences for their actions. It shouldn't be excused just because it is done online. We need more people to realize what's going on, and start to fix it.

Before reading this chapter i didn't know how to use classification. I want to know more about how to use classification. I learned, that cause and effect can be a helpful tool to use when studying. It can also help you remember the information. I still want to know things that will be helpful when studying or reading.

Before reading this chapter I already knew there is an implied main idea in everything we read. I want to know more about how to identify the official main idea, when you are stuck betweeen two ideas. I learned that every sentence relates to the main idea/topic. I still want to kniow more helpfull tools from the readings we do.

            Before reading this chapter, I did not know the proper way to preview a chapter. I want to know more about how to test yourself while reading. I leaned about the SQ3R, these five techniques are very helpful. I still want to know some more techniques on comprehension.

Reflection

            Before reading this chapter, I didn’t know that breaking up a word into syllables can help you understand a word. I want to know more about how to define words I do not know. I learned that if you don’t understand a word, you should break it into three parts. It will make it easier to define the word. I still want to know the common prefixes used, because that can help me define words.

            Before reading this chapter, I had already known about some context clues used in sentences. I often use the context clues when they are available to me. I want to know more about how to understand some of the hard words that don’t have context clues. I learned that you can use contrasting to help define a word you don’t know. I still want to know other helpful tools.

Reflection

                Before reading this chapter, I did not know that there are so many benefits with working in groups. It helps you meet new people, and keeps you focused. You can also test each other, and review for exams together. I want to know more about how to make reading easier. I learned that paying attention to the pictured in the text can be very helpful. By looking at just one photo, you can learn a lot. I still want to know some more tips on how to study.

Reflection

    Before reading this chapter I knew that being in college meant spending a lot of time and hard work for each class. I want to know more about some strategies that would help me throughout my college years. I learned that reading the material is not enough. You have to do things like highlighting, summarizing, and outlining. I also learned that you should test yourself as you go through the material to make sure you really understand it. I still want to know some other strategies that will help me.
